Bound mimeograph compilation of genealogical data and the journal of Dr. Carmi P. Garlick. The journal (April-July 1850) covers the first part of Garlick's overland journey to the California gold fields. The entries describe camp life, the land, Indian burial customs, plant and animal life, the Platte River ferry, other travelers, visits to Forts Kearney and Laramie, and a meeting with Kit Carson. The genealogical data provide detailed information on the Garlick and related families beginning with their emigration to the United States (ca. 1630) through Norman Garlick's children.
